Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for information to help trace a man who tried to steal a handbag from a 17-year-old girl.

It happened in an alleyway between Rooksbridge Walk and Shophouse Road in Twerton at around 6pm on Monday 7th November. The victim was left shaken but otherwise unhurt.

She was followed for some time by a man as she walked along Moorland Road, Lyndhurst Road, Ringwood Road, across the linear path, into King George’s Road and then Rooksbridge Walk. In the alley leading to Shophouse Road the man came up behind her and tried to snatch her bag. She broke free and ran off.

The suspected robber is aged between 25 and 28 and was wearing a dark-coloured waterproof jacket with the hood up, a dark baseball cap and jeans. He may have bushy eyebrows.

Anyone who saw the teenager and the man as they walked in the area, or who witnessed the incident itself, is asked to call Bath CID on the non-emergency number 101. Or call the charity Crimestopers in confidence on 0800 555 111. Detectives particularly want to speak to the driver of a car in Shophouse Road who may have seen the teenager or the man emerging from the alleyway.
