We’re on the lookout for a part-time reporter to join our team! Could it be you?
Are you passionate about local news, sport, and all things Bath?
The Bath Echo is proud to be an independent voice for the city, publishing trusted news and information both online and in print. As we continue to grow our coverage across key areas of community interest, we’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic Part-Time Reporter to join our team and help us shine a light on the stories that matter most to local readers. This role will mainly focus on sports reporting, what’s on/events and business news, though there will be broader opportunities for covering other news.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for storytelling and a strong interest in sport, events and business. Whether it’s attending Bath Rugby matchdays, covering Bath City FC, reporting on new business openings or previewing upcoming festivals, this role will place you at the heart of Bath’s vibrant cultural and sporting scene.
You’ll work closely with our editor, have the chance to build contacts across the city, and see your work reach thousands of readers each week. If you thrive on meeting people, are naturally curious, and want to make a real impact in your community through quality journalism, we’d love to hear from you.
The role is hybrid, with the opportunity to work from home, as well as from our offices on the outskirts of the city centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Writing clear, engaging and accurate news articles for our website and print edition
- Attending matches, events, and press calls
- Interviewing local figures, businesses and sports representatives
- Uploading content and images to our website and social platforms
- Working collaboratively with the editor to identify relevant local stories

What We’re Looking For:
- A strong interest in local news and sport – this role requires matchday reporting.
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Good organisational ability and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, sometimes outside regular hours to attend events or matches
- A keen interest in using social media, with experience of posting content related to news stories on multiple platforms
Why Join Us?
- Flexible working arrangements. We’re more than happy to work around family/school arrangements
- First-hand access to major events and matches in the city
- Play a key role in telling the stories that matter to Bath
- Opportunity to grow your profile in regional journalism
