The UK’s largest free celebration of the natural world will arrive in Bath on 25th June for a day of family-friendly fun, marking the grand finale of a wild adventure along the River Avon.
The day is the climax of two weeks of river-themed events running along the Avon from Bristol to Bath.
This is the first time in its 14-year history the Festival has celebrated the region’s waterscapes.
The Bath event will open with a procession led by a willow sculpture portraying the Spirit of the Avon, which will wind its way to the main event in Royal Victoria Park.
An array of national and local organisations will flock to the park for a family-friendly day of hands-on activities, innovative arts and inspiring entertainment designed to showcase the natural world.
Join the Festival of Imagination workshop and explore their magical world; discover how science can save sharks with a hands-on workshop from the University of Bath; take part in bat activities and find out about River Avon projects such as Water Space with Bath and North East Somerset Council or join Fine Chisel theatre company for their children’s theatre show ‘Flit, Flap & Fly’ inside a giant nest.
Join a photography or wildlife walk led by experts, or explore the secret places of Royal Victoria Park. There’ll also be mouth-watering local food and refreshments for you to enjoy.
Savita Custead, chief executive at Bristol Natural History Consortium, which organises the festival, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing the Festival back to Bath again with such a varied programme.
“Our water theme is going to open up a whole host of opportunities for people to explore and experience their surroundings and we hope Festival visitors find plenty of inspiration in Royal Victoria Park on the 25th.”
All activities are free of charge and work on a first-come first-served basis, just go along to the Festival site and ask at the info tent for directions.
