A single lane of the A36 Lower Bristol Road is set to be temporarily closed from Monday, to allow the Council to complete its installation of a new flood defence between Waterfront House and Churchill Bridge.
The left-hand, east-bound lane of the A36/Lower Bristol Road, approaching the city centre, will be closed to traffic between 9am and 3.30pm weekdays for up to five weeks.
Whilst delays are possible during these times, eastbound traffic will still be able to access the city centre via Churchill Bridge and the A36/A367 ring road using the remaining eastbound approach lane.
The Bath Quays Waterside project has over recent months been installing flood defences on the south side of the River Avon, between Churchill and Midland Bridges, to protect over 100 businesses and homes on the Lower Bristol Road.
This has involved installing flood resistant windows and balustrades in existing buildings on the river edge, which is now complete, as well as building new walls and raising existing walls at the river edge.
Completion of the flood defence between the two bridges is envisaged in 2018.
