The University of Bath has been named joint top university in the UK that students would recommend to their friends, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Student Experience Survey 2016.
The University was placed overall 5th in the UK out of 117, continuing to be the most highly ranked university in the South West region.
The survey also highlighted Bath as second in the UK for sporting facilities and industry connections. The University was joint second in the category for well-structured courses.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning & Teaching) Professor Peter Lambert commented: “These results are further confirmation of the excellence of the all-round student experience we provide and the fact that our students are our best ambassadors.
“Maintaining this level of excellence requires continuing to work in partnership with our student body and paying close attention to their feedback.
“We very much value the role our students play in shaping our plans for new facilities and in further enhancing the quality of learning and teaching at Bath.
“To be rated top in the UK for being recommended by our students is a great achievement.”
Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the University is ranked highly in all national league tables, and was ranked first for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey for two years running.
Internationally, Bath was placed ‘first in Europe’ according to the latest QS ‘Top 50 under 50’ ranking in 2015.
Almost 15,000 full-time undergraduates took part in polling for the annual THE survey. They were asked to judge their student experience across 21 categories ranging from the quality of the university staff and lectures, to whether they would recommend their university to a friend.
The Student Experience Survey, now in its 11th year, is unique in that it looks beyond the usual definition of the student experience – comprised largely of teaching, learning, assessment and feedback – to a broader definition, one created by students themselves that includes those aspects of university life that matter most to them.
