A window in the Mallory jewellers on Bridge Street in the centre of Bath was smashed this afternoon, during a robbery at the renowned store.
The raid took place at around 2.30pm on Wednesday afternoon, 10th May.
Police taped off the outside of the premises, with glass from the window littering the pavement. CSI officers attended the scene shortly afterwards.
An axe was used to break the window, which then broke leaving the axe head in the shop display and the handle on the pavement.
It is believed a number of items have been stolen from the jewellers, though neither value or specifics have been made public.
Police say two men left the scene on a motorbike following the incident and enquiries have now been started.
