The lower level of Manvers Street car park in the centre of Bath will be closed overnight tonight, Wednesday 15th February, at the request of Western Power Distribution.
Western Power will be carrying out essential work to the electricity supply between 7pm and midnight, meaning there will be no lighting on the lower level.
Security will be on hand to assist those returning to their vehicles once the power has been switched off.
However, members of the public are being advised not to park in the lower level if they expect to return to their car after 6pm.
Signage is being installed in the car park to alert users to the closure.
Councillor Anthony Clarke (Conservative, Lansdown) Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “We have been notified by Western Power that they need to carry out essential maintenance work to the lower level of the Manvers Street car park.
“It is best to carry out this work when the car park is not being used fully.
“We understand that this may inconvenience anyone parking on the lower level late in the day, but for safety reasons members of the public will be asked not to park there after 6pm.
“Anyone who does return to their vehicle when the lighting has been switched off will be assisted by members of the security team.”
The car park will fully reopen after midnight when work is completed.
