Gold medallist Amy Williams was featured on the opening episode of the new series of Top Gear on Sunday’s programme; competing against a Mini WRC rally championship model at Lillehammer on the skeleton run.
The 28 year old, who won her gold medal at the Winter Olympics in 2010, was challenged by Top Gear presenter James May as to whether the new Mini rally car in the World Rally Championship series could compete with the original Mini which won the rally championship in 1964, 1965 and 1967.
Racing down the bobsleigh run used at the Lillehammer track, Amy reached up to 80mph against the Mini. James May did unfortunately win, with the Mini reaching the bottom of the track only just ahead of the skeleton medallist.
Amy also appeared on Top Gear last year as one of their ‘Star In A Reasonably Priced Car’ celebrities, achieving a time of 1.50.9 seconds on a wet lap.
